Forgiveness is pardoning, excusing, exonerating a person that has done you wrong or brought harm to you.  It means to let it go!  That may seem a little difficult for us to do at times and I am talking about myself included.  I have had some unimaginable things done to me and/or said about me but at the end of the day, I had to forgive that person especially if I wanted God through His Son Jesus Christ to forgive me!   If Jesus while He was being sacrificed on the Cross can say Father forgive them for they know not what they do – surely you and I can forgive others.  That is God’s way and the Christian way – it is the thing to do!   Oh, I know it hurts sometimes to forgive but we must do it if we want to be forgiven by God and see him in peace.  What about if the person that you need to forgive is no longer living, there is no way to get in touch with them, or this happened years ago; well God is still living for He is Eternal – just ask Him to forgive you for whatever the situation was with that person.  What if you feel that you didn’t do anything to that person and there is friction in the relationship; be the bigger person and ask for forgiveness anyway from that person!  What if the person is confrontational, angry, or combative when you are around them; pick up the phone or text them that you are sorry and you hope the relationship can mend OR ask God for wisdom in how to approach the situation.  Don’t put yourself in harm’s way to get or give an apology. Even if the relationship doesn’t mend – just know that in the sight of God you have done your part to forgive! God is a forgiving God – make sure you ask him for forgiveness in all situations. Most of all ask him for forgiveness of your sins and invite him into your life as your Personal Lord and Savior – find out how on the last page of this Devotional/Journal titled “Plan of Salvation”.
